calls from the BT network to the SMARTER Chess network, giving customers
access to competitive call and line rental rates.-
Customers who take this service will receive one bill for all call
charges and line rentals and can continue to use any of their Select
Services, i.e. Call Divert, 1471 etc...

Who
it's for
SMARTER
fixed lines & calls is suitable for any customer with BT lines wishing
to access better value line rental and call charges with no
interruption to their service. It is appropriate for customers
considering our SMARTER tariffs who also wish to transfer their line
rental to Chess.
What
it does
Choosing SMARTER fixed lines & calls cancels all call charges and line
rental billing by BT and move the services to Chess. You will
start to receive one bill showing line rental and itemised calls
rather than two separate bills. This does not affect your lines or any
of the services you have. We will continue to support those services
and itemise these charges on your bill.
How
it Works
We will
assess your needs and fill in an order form for the phone lines and BT
numbers that you want to transfer to Chess. On completion of the order
form, Chess will contact BT on your behalf and instruct them to cancel
all line rental and call billing. BT may contact you, via a phone call
at this point to confirm your intention to transfer line rental and
call charges to Chess. We will provide you with an effective date. The
effective date will be the date
you
stop being billed line rental and call charges by BT and will start
being billed for line rental and calls by Chess. We will continue to
support and bill any Select Services you have set up on the line such
as call waiting, call barring, etc. You will receive one bill showing
line
rental
and all call charges making your billing processes simpler. The
service is provided at the local BT exchange meaning that no equipment
needs to be installed at your premises
and no
change will occur to your lines. There is no interruption to your
services and you can keep your phone numbers

SMARTER
tariffs are a range of products which allow you to route your outgoing
calls over the SMARTER Chess network. This gives you access to
competitive call rates and a wide range of services. We manage all the
processes for you and there's no need to change your phone numbers. If
you would like to benefit from cheaper calls AND receive discounted

If you just want to take advantage of our cheaper calls but still pay
your line rental to BT or Cable and Wireless (C&W) then read on.

a simple implementation process with no service interruption.
What it does
SMARTER tariffs automatically diverts calls
from BT and C&W to the SMARTER Chess network. There is no installation
or programming of equipment required and you don’t have to dial a code
to activate the service. This means a more efficient routing of calls
to the SMARTER Chess network, maximising the savings you make. There
is no interruption to your service when switching to Chess and you can
keep your existing telephone numbers.
How it works
We will assess your needs and fill in an order
form for the BT or C&W numbers you want to transfer to Chess Chess
completes an approved electronic order form based on the information
you have provided and sends it to BT or C&W BT or C&W check the
information on the electronic order and, as long as it is correct, the
service will be transferred 10 working days later The service is
provided at the local BT or C&W exchange meaning that no equipment
needs to be installed at your premises. During this time you have the
option to cancel the service with no penalty charges Once the service
is activated your calls will be transferred to the SMARTER Chess
network automatically.
